The Interview

Hello, all. I’m writing today about the interview that I recently had with the teacher I have been assigned to. It was cool to see how she teaches and to get to know her a little. While in the interview with my partner we asked her a few questions. Some main answers that she gave us included that she has been teaching for 10 years now, my main focus of questions were regarding her philosophy of education. It was interesting to me that she couldn’t name the exact philosophy that she teaches by. But she did suggest that she changes depending on the student and the subject she is teaching. It was also cool to learn that this can change from year to year depending on the students in the class. This seemed to be straight forward to me, because all people learn differently. Overall my first visit and interview were a success.

  1. Yes I agree that it was very interesting that she did not have a particular philosophy that she follows. I also agree with the fact that you should change the way you teach based on the students you get each year. It's so hard to keep the same philosophy with kids those age because they are all so different and are not going to learn the same way. I am looking forward to our next trip there and getting to Mrs. S a little more.

  2. I also find it interesting that she wasn't able to pinpoint one philosophy that she strictly teaches by. I believe that that says something good about her teaching style though because like we talked about in class, it's important for the teacher to make sure that she's teaching her students with methods that are best for THEM, not just works for her and her teaching philosophy. I think it's important that we make sure to adjust to the student's needs, and not our own as a teacher. However, this begs the questions, is there one BEST philosophy that might work for all students? Hmm...

  3. It is very common for teachers to do whats best for them. and for your teacher, it is changing to the students needs. this reminds me of kena's example.. squishy ball vs no squishy ball. With over 20 students though, it cant be easy learning whats best for each and every student. things that could help student may vary a lot. how could you keep it equal in class so that some students arent 'babied' more than others?
