Classroom Management

This week we were to observe classroom management, although it wasn’t possible for me to actually sit down and observe for the full 30 minutes this week I still have a grasp of how the teacher uses classroom management. My teacher uses some of her students to help her in the classroom. One example is when she has her students line up she has one person in the back to help lead the class out. It’s cool to see how she includes her students in her classroom management. It’s also neat to see how she will have the class work together. An example is when she has them do a spell aloud time and they all stand up and spell the weeks words together. It is very cool to observe new styles of classroom management.

  1. I like the way the teacher uses the students to help her with some tasks. Its a good strategy to keep the students more engaged in the class. It also helps them stay on task during the day. I also like the songs and the spelling techniques she uses with the kids. I think its a good idea because its not so boring for the kids so they are more likely to learn the words. She does a good job keeping a consistent schedule with the kids. Consistenty is an important thing with second graders.

  2. In educational psychology we are learning about how giving students tasks to complete is very beneficial for their self-efficacy and general learning in school, so I think it's great that she handles her classroom with the help of her students. Giving a student a task allows them to have responsibility for their actions and for them to have a voice in how the class room is ran. I wonder though, is employing the students to help in classroom management the best way to handle the classroom? Or are there other ways to develop a well managed classroom?
