Hello all, this week’s blog is on the current event interview. The current event I choose to present to my teacher was about clickers in the classroom. A link for the article is here http://nyti.ms/cGxN2v. Although my questions for her were based on this article I chose to also include how she felt on technology in the classroom in general. Her immediate response to clickers was she would love to have them in her classroom. She could see the benefit in how they could help keep her students accountable and at the same time she could see where they were with the material. She believes that technologies like these could help students and teachers alike.
It was cool to see a teacher’s response to a current event such as this. I think with more and more teachers feeling technology betters their classroom, we could see a change to even more technologies like this. It will be neat to see where we go as a culture with teaching and technology.
I agree that technology does present a great way for learning to be spread throughout the classroom in fun, innovative, and effective ways. Although their are some skeptics about technology in the classroom, one must ask themselves if the benefits outweigh the consequences of such technology. Clickers, for example, are a great way for students to answer a question anonymously without feeling ashamed of answering the question wrong. They also help the teacher better assess the student's knowledge without the student feeling embarrassed of not knowing everything the teacher is teaching. This is a great step forward in teaching and classroom productivity. What are some other ways people can interpret the growth of technology in the classroom?
